Wolfgang Zimmer will talk about strategies for sustainable building in North Rhine-Westfalia (NRW) on Thursday, December 7, at the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) in Dortmund. The discussion round is part of a workshop within the event series „Sustainable and intelligent buildings“.
This time, it is about how Building Information Modeling (BIM) can help improve the quality of planning and construction of offices, public buildings and commercial real estate. The introduction to the topic is a lecture by Christoph Dammermann, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Innovation, Digitization and Energy in North Rhine-Westfalia. He talks about „Digitization and sustainability – strengthening the construction industry in NRW“.
Revision of the coalition agreement
Afterwards, the discussion round will start, moderated by Manfred Rauschen (Ecological Centre of NRW). Wolfgang Zimmer sits on the podium as a representative of the Chamber of Architects in North Rhine-Westfalia. Other participants are Prof. Beate Wiemann (Chief Executive of the Construction Industry Association of NRW), Prof. Dr. med. Annette Hafner (Ruhr University Bochum) and Lutz Grimsel (construction and real estate management authority NRW).
At the center of the workshop is a revision of the coalition agreement in NRW: It demands that the state government prescribe the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) in its own projects. The event will discuss how the topic is taken up by politics – and what practical experience already exists.
Meeting place for investors, planners and university representatives
Since 2010, the workshops have been a meeting place for investors, planners, operators and university representatives on sustainable building in NRW. Organizers are the competence centre for environmental economy in NRW, the association for business development in Dortmund, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Dortmund and the ecological centre of NRW.
