The Spar- und Bauverein, a housing association based in Dortmund, plans to construct a building complex with apartments and offices on the property Königswall 44/46 in Dortmund. The design has been developed by Koschany + Zimmer Architekten KZA. They won the expression-of-interest procedure.
The design provides for a mixed use with apartments, office space and an underground car park with two parking levels. The core idea is to juxtapose the elongated sweep of the opposite development with a group of three buildings with five, six or eight storeys. In their staggered arrangement, they follow the height development of the road.
The tallest building welcomes the arriving guests. A pedestal unites the elements into one unit and, with its second level, becomes the podium for a green courtyard and the house on Schmiedingstraße.
The triad of buildings sets a special accent against the backdrop of the Harenberg House and in the immediate vicinity of the U-Tower.
